THE scale of the destruction to a SEND school in Devon following a devastating fire has been revealed, as firefighters continue to monitor the wrecked site.
Dramatic pictures show the aftermath of a huge fire which destroyed The Promise School
A fire broke out at The Promise School in Okehampton on Sunday afternoon, causing a huge amount of destruction.
Pupils were expected to return to school on Monday following last week's half-term break, but firefighters and emergency workers were still trying to bring the blaze under control.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said crews remained at the scene yesterday to continue to monitor the incident. At the peak of the incident, more than a dozen fire engines were at the school.
The fire service confirmed the roof has collapsed inward and the first floor has been completely destroyed by fire, but crews were able to prevent it from spreading to an adjoining building.
