From rainfall to cyclists' bells – are you missing out on sounds?

Struggling to hear everyday noises could be an indication of hearing loss, says the charity RNID. Storm Newton reports on the findings of its research

STRUGGLING to hear everyday sounds, such as leaves rustling through trees and rainfall, could be a sign of undiagnosed hearing loss, an expert has warned.

It comes as RNID, the charity supporting those who are deaf, have hearing loss or tinnitus, urged people to prioritise hearing health and take their free online check.

A survey carried out for RNID included 1,810 people who had never been diagnosed with hearing loss.

It found almost half (47%) would struggle to hear leaves rustling in trees on a windy day, someone calling their name from another room (46%) and the sound of rainfall nearby (43%).
