Eyesore illegal camp at valley park site cleared

ILLEGAL campers have been booted off land at an Exeter beauty spot in a crackdown.

Duryard Valley Park has been blighted by fly-tipping and antisocial behaviour for more than a year.

The site had become an eyesore as a mountain of waste developed in the picnic area car park. A caravan also pitched up, contributing to the mess while commanding spectacular views of the Exe Valley.

Now the Devon Wildlife Trust (DWT), which manages the park for the city council, has hit back. A cleanup has been launched at the site on Pennsylvania Road and the occupants of the caravan camp told to leave.

The main pile of waste has now been removed. The wrecked caravan is still on site but is uninhabitable and will be taken away.
