Returning players pose 'healthy problems'

DEFENDER Brendan Galloway was set to return to training with Plymouth Argyle yesterday after dealing with a calf issue this week.

- CHRIS ERRINGTON

Should he come through that successfully, the 29-yeaer-old will be in contention for a place in the starting lineup for today’s game against unbeaten League One leaders Cardiff City (KO 12.30pm).

Galloway was substituted during the second half of the Pilgrims’ 1-0 victory over Blackpool at Home Park last Saturday and was not part of the squad for the Carabao Cup second round tie away to Swansea City on Tuesday.

Argyle head coach Tom Cleverley was full of praise for the performance of Brendan Wiredu at centre-back against Swansea, when he played alongside Alex Mitchell, so there is every chance they could continue that partnership for the game at Cardiff.

Asked whether Galloway would be fit, Cleverley said: “More likely yes than no. Not trained yet. Will hopefully see him on the training pitch tomorrow and then take a decision on Brendan. It makes my decision a lot easier in some aspects when Brendan Wiredu comes in and plays fantastically well.
