All Grecians should be 'really proud' of season

As things stand, City are 15th in the table, but if they can win today, Barnsley lose at play-off chasing Reading, Stevenage don’t win at Bolton Wanderers and Rotherham United fail to beat Peterborough at home, then it will be a 12th-place finish for a team expected - in terms of budget - to finish this season second from bottom.

People are hard to please, especially football fans, so it is with some surprise that, with League One football assured for a fourth successive season at St James Park, some people are still not happy.

“It’s a strange feeling because we've done really well,” Caldwell’s assistant, Kevin Nicholson, said when speaking to the media this week. “Where we are, the league we're in, the people we're fighting against, we've done really well to be where we are now. We’re in with a chance of finishing 12th.
