Wrexham rivals focus on budget gap amid signings

The Red Dragons are currently involved in a tour Down Under, facing off against A-League clubs as they gear up for the start of their Championship campaign next month.

Phil Parkinson's team kicked off their friendly matches with a convincing 3-0 victory over Melbourne Victory.

However, they faced an unexpected setback with a 2-1 loss to a youthful Sydney FC squad on Tuesday.

Wrexham, backed by Hollywood heavyweights Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, encountered another hurdle when key midfielder Ollie Rathbone was taken to hospital for scans on an ankle injury sustained in the first half of the game.

Following the full-time whistle, Sydney manager Ufuk Talay commended the Welsh side but resisted comparisons to the A-League during his press briefing.
