Roberts: Back three will make difference in an attacking team
Western Mail
|October 31, 2025
RUGBY legend Jamie Roberts has chosen his starting Wales XV for the upcoming autumn internationals.
-
Steve Tandy’s team will face Argentina, Japan, New Zealand and South Africa in November as the collective attempt to get a brand new era off to a good start.
A hugely successful player in Wales’ golden generation, Roberts will be working for TNT Sports as a pundit and is on our screens during the autumn Tests.
He only retired from rugby three years ago and since he has ventured into punditry it has not been a prosperous time for Welsh rugby. However, Roberts is full of optimism ahead of the four end-of-year Tests.
Tandy named his 39-player squad on Tuesday, with five uncapped players included in his collective. As well as the new faces, there were some returning ones, too,
Louis Rees-Zammit is back in the selection mix for the first time in two years and Cardiff fly-half Callum Sheedy is back on the Test scene. Rhys Carre has also been selected in the squad despite not having 25 caps and playing his rugby outside of Wales.
“I was really excited when I saw the squad,” Roberts told our sister publication WalesOnline.
