ONE of the finest activities to enjoy at the All England Lawn Tennis Club's Wimbledon Championships is not, in fact, the tennis, or the strawberries or the fizz, but the fashion and, in particular, the pastime of “that’s my dress!”

Game, set and matchless dress!

Dressing for the championships is like preparing to play a sport that requires specialist equipment even if that sport is restricted to sitting, clapping and occasionally leaping to your feet and cheering.

There is a Wimbledon costume that’s so distinctive it stands out in any crowd of well-dressed folk. You can spot a Wimbledoner because of a particular gleam of excitement in their eyes; an excitement that's evident whether they're wearing sunglasses or not.

For the tennis tribe, Wimbledon 2025 - so far, so sunny - is all about the big seeds crashing out. We watched Frenchie Arthur Rinderknech stun third seed Alexander Zverev when he became the fourth top-10 ranked men’s player to exit the tournament in the first two days. Hours later, Coco Gauff became the third top-five seed to lose in the women’s draw.

Big Djok was almost another shock but he rallied (gettit?) to win 10 out of the last 12 games to defeat a startling Alexandre Muller - another Frenchie. I wanted Djok to win but found myself cheering for Muller so we could get the most out of the Wimbledon day, and, as it turned out,
