FOR the eighth consecutive year, popular restaurants, cafés, bars and other culinary hotspots from across the country gathered for the annual Food Awards Wales - a night officials described as "a fantastic evening celebrating the best of the Welsh food industry".

Voted for by the public, the awards shine a spotlight on excellence across a wide range of categories, including restaurants, takeaways, pubs, hotel restaurants, cafés and bistros. They also honour those introducing diners to new flavours and global cuisines.

This year's winners were announced at a glittering ceremony this month at the Marriott Hotel in Cardiff.
