Residents 'stranded after withdrawal of bus service'

CLLR Diogo Rodrigues, Leader of the Conservative Opposition on Somerset Council, has called on the authority to do more to support Yeovil residents affected by the withdrawal of the Number 11 bus service.

Speaking at a recent council meeting, Cllr Rodrigues (pictured inset) raised concerns after visiting Yeovil with the Somerset Bus Partnership and hearing directly from residents.

"I heard from people like Mavis and Jenny, who told me they now can’t get to the GP, the supermarket, the cemetery, or even their weekly Golden Oldies club," said Cllr Rodrigues.

"Jenny told me it’s affected her social life - she can’t meet her friends anymore. For communities like Whitemead, going from a regular service to nothing at all has been devastating, especially for older and disabled residents."
