Knitting club joins with villagers to fill church with doves for VE Day

THERE are lots of events around Somerset to mark VE Day this week, and villagers in Kingsdon near Somerton have been busy getting the local church ready for the celebrations.
The local knitting club have been working furiously to get their beautiful knitted white doves ready to decorate All Saints Church in the village. Every dove had to be specially knit and cut out, and the knitting club were helped in their efforts by lots of people in the local community. Linda Rumbles, spokeswoman for the club, said: "This took several months of knitting, cutting and gluing, but we all agreed the end result was very rewarding.
