Services put to test by simulated train crash

A SIMULATED crash involving a two-carriage passenger train and several vehicles on an unmanned level crossing was used in a major training exercise for emergency services last weekend.

Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service (GFRS) spearheaded a multi-agency training exercise on Sunday at Porterbrook’s Long Marston Rail Innovation Centre.
‘The aim of the exercise in Stratford-upon-Avon was to test the response of multiple agencies by simulating a serious crash with many casualties.
Joining GFRS were Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service, Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service, Avon Urban Search and Rescue, Gloucestershire Police, and Severn Area Rescue Association.
