Hugh and Nancy celebrating 70 years of marriage

A Harthill couple celebrated their platinum wedding anniversary by taking a trip to the hotel where they enjoyed their honeymoon.

Hugh and Nancy Bowden were wed on October 21, 1955 and enjoyed their honeymoon break at the Glenroy Hotel in Balloch.

And 70 years on, the couple, aged 96 and 91 respectively, decided to return to the hotel to share even more happy memories.

Hugh and Nancy's son Alan said: “We took them down there and they had a brilliant time.

“They still have old photos of the hotel and even the receipt from their stay there. When we went down there the people who own the hotel now found out and offered to buy them dinner. They couldn't have been nicer.”
