Kapow! Jake ditches 'rubbish' jobs to resurrect comic book adventure

Three years ago, Bazbo Comics shut down after seven years in the city citing the Covid pandemic, the fallout from Brexit, the cost-of-living crisis, extortionate business rates and rent, for making the business unviable in the long term.

Jake Archer, who worked at Bazbo in Cathedral Lane for four years and managed it in its last year of trading, decided it was high time Truro had a comic book shop again.

Archer's Comics officially opened in the city on Saturday, May 3.

Jake said: "Personally, the cost of living has levelled out. I have been working rubbish jobs for the past two years. It has been detrimental to my mental health.

"After conversations with other comic book shops and crushing the numbers, I realised I could be earning the same as if I stayed in rubbish jobs, so why not do it and do something I love instead?
