Moore's rise from drugs hell to the brink of Oscars alory

Demi... a Woman of Substancell

DEMI Moore sweeping down the Oscars' red carpet as the favourite to win Best Actress was almost unimaginable 13 years ago.

In 2012, Moore, 62, was at rock bottom. She had passed out on friend's floor after inhaling nitrous oxide and smoking synthetic cannabis, had a seizure and an ambulance was called.

Her marriage to Ashton Kutcher was on the rocks and her three daughters were not talking to her.

Moore thought: "Is this life? Because if this is it, I'm done." Now the Ghost and A Few Good Men star's career renaissance is nearly complete.

Bookies are tipping her to beat Anora's Mikey Madison to win the Oscar for her role in The Substance tonight. Moore's performance as an ageing actress recapturing her lost youth in the body horror film has already landed her a Golden Globe and a dizzying number of offers of future work.

For her close friends, it is just what she deserves after such a tumultuous time both professionally and personally.

imageThey say the breakdown of her marriage to Kutcher nearly sank her.

One pal said: "Of the many tribulations Demi has endured, from her chaotic family upbringing to her drink and eating disorder, you could make a case for this divorce hitting her hardest.
