NEW CHALLENGE FOR SAD AS AMRITPAL ANNOUNCES POLITICAL OUTFIT
The Sunday Guardian
|January 05, 2025
SAD faces internal and external challenges as Amritpal Singh plans a political venture at Maghi Mela.
The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) is facing multiple challenges, including penance ordered by Sri Akal Takht for its chief, Sukhbir Singh Badal, and a physical attack on Badal by Narain Singh Chaura. Adding to its woes, Khalistani sympathiser and Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh, who is currently lodged in Assam's Dibrugarh jail, has announced plans to form a new political outfit during the Maghi Mela in Muktsar on January 14. Notably, SAD has also scheduled its own conference on the same day, setting the stage for a potential political showdown.
Amritpal Singh's father, Tarsem Singh, revealed that the event at Maghi Mela will involve the formation of a committee to seek public suggestions on creation of a regional political party.
