Bangladesh military detains 15 officers accused in enforced disappearance, torture cases.
Fifteen serving and retired army officers have been taken into military custody in Bangladesh following arrest warrants issued by the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) over their alleged involvement in enforced disappearances and crimes against humanity committed during Sheikh Hasina's tenure as prime minister.
“Fifteen former and current army officers accused of crimes against humanity have been taken into military custody,” Major General Md Hakimuzzaman, Adjutant General of the Bangladesh Army, told reporters on Saturday. He added that the army would “fully support” the ongoing legal process and cooperate with the tribunal's orders.
