Liverpool won their 17th game from 19, beating Real Madrid easily, too - for the first time since 2009, having been winless in their previous six meetings with the Spanish giants when Jurgen Klopp was at the helm. Arne Slot's start to his managerial tenure continues to defy all expectations, and his predecessors at such a historic club.

Slot has previously tempered excitement by pointing to a kind fixture list, but that idea can be mothballed, as they have negotiated a nine-game run that began with Chelsea and ended with Real, and won every game save for a 2-2 draw with Arsenal.

Top of the Champions League super table, clear at the top of the Premier League by eight points is awesome form by any measure.
