Planned attack a reminder that young people are vulnerable in digital age

I read with interest the article "17-year-old self-radicalised Singaporean arrested weeks before planned attack in Tampines" (Oct 18).
This alarming incident serves as a wake-up call for our community, underscoring the urgent need to address the underlying factors contributing to youth radicalisation in Singapore.
Though it is a nation that prides itself on harmony and multiculturalism, Singapore is not immune to the global spread of extremist ideologies, which can infiltrate even the most secure of societies. The fact that a young person raised in a safe and inclusive environment could be swayed towards such violence is a stark reminder of the vulnerability of our youth in a digital age.
