Ngee Ann Poly to offer space technology as a specialisation

Students enrolling at Ngee Ann Polytechnic in various engineering diploma courses in April will be able to choose space technology as a specialisation in their third year.

Meanwhile, the Economic Development Board's Office for Space Technology & Industry (OSTIn) signed two letters of intent with space agencies in the Maldives and Spain to set the stage for further cooperation in terms of space-related developments.

These were among a host of key announcements on Feb 2 at the Space Summit - held at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre until Feb 3 - by various stakeholders involved in the space industry.

Here is a selection of the announcements:

SPACE TECHNOLOGY SPECIALISATION AT NGEE ANN POLYTECHNIC

Ngee Ann Polytechnic is the first in Singapore to offer a space technology specialisation at the polytechnic diploma level.

Students enrolling in April in various engineering courses including aerospace, electrical, mechanical, mechatronics and robotics, and biomedical can opt to take the specialisation from 2028, in the first semester of their third year.

Students from different engineering domains will be brought together to work on systems design and innovation projects that are based on real-world space applications.
