Billionaire Elon Musk, who is heading US President Donald Trump's mission to shrink the federal government, will give an update on the effort early on Feb 3 amid reports that he has been given access to a vital payment system at the Treasury Department.

WASHINGTON -
Mr Musk, who is also chief executive of Tesla and SpaceX, plans to discuss the Department of Government Efficiency or Doge in a Feb 3 social media talk on X, which he also owns. Mr Trump has assigned Mr Musk to lead a federal cost-cutting panel.
