Chanel and Dior were two of the most-talked-about shows of the season

The annual rush of back-to-back high fashion shows in New York, London, Milan and Paris wrapped on Oct 7, drawing the curtains on what has been billed as the fashion industry's great reset.

An unprecedented 15 designers presented their first collections for some of the world's biggest luxury clothing brands, including Chanel, Dior and Balenciaga. Older hands made the case for new ideas.

It will be months before all the season's goods hit stores in early 2026, but it is never too early to start studying. The Straits Times examines some of the most memorable runway proposals of the season.

APRON-APALOOZA

A bamboozling amount of aprons slipped onto the runway this season, courtesy of Miu Miu.

German actress Sandra Huller opened the show in a factory worker's kit, navy blue and full-skirted, thrown over work pants. She marched with hands in pockets like a hard-nosed machinist, the black leather lining of her upturned jacket cuffs and a barely there cravat the only concessions to high fashion styling.
