June 8 Hong Kong (Sha Tin) form analysis
-
RACE 1 (1,200M)
7 Modest Gentleman is an interesting runner having his first look at the Sha Tin turf on his 37th start. Unlike many in this race, he is a winner—two times, in fact—and comes off an encouraging second placing. Barrier 2 gives him the right run.
12 Timestorm has been sliding down the ratings and has not had much go his way from wide draws in recent runs. He has been finding the line well and, drawn slightly better in gate 10, is capable of surprising.
2 King Oberon makes his Class 5 debut and his Class 4 form stands up well for a race like this. One to follow.
11 Flying Phantom is hard to catch but was sound last start when third and now gets his chance to break through at attempt 22 in a typically open Class 5.
RACE 2 (1,200M)
5 Lunar Dash is a newcomer for the Mark Newnham stable and the three-year-old has caught the eye in his trials with Zac Purton aboard in all three hit-outs. He finds a moderate Class 4 on debut and can get on the board straight away.
3 Wonderstar has tumbled down the ratings and, since a stable switch to Me Tsui, is trending in the right direction. He was sent out favourite last time and ran a close-up second, putting the writing on the wall. He maps to lead comfortably and may prove hard to catch.
10 Pejibaye steps out third-up and has shown promise. Blinkers go on now and his trial in the gear suggests the change will be effective.
8 Team Team Folks disappointed on debut when failing to make inroads, but his trial win since hints at improvement.
RACE 3 (1,400M)
2 Cashiscash made his Class 5 debut last start and showed sharp improvement with a fast-finishing second. The three-year-old is having only his ninth start and looks capable of going one better with natural progression.
4 Young Horizon returns to his preferred track and trip on his second run back in Class 5. The conditions suit and he can figure.
