Trainer Reeves' five-year-old mare edges out favourite Wander Dune at Durbanville, S.A.
South African racing held its second named race in honour of Singapore Pools at Hollywoodbets Durbanville on Aug 30, a week after the Singapore gaming outfit's presence at the Turffontein meeting.
The 110,000 rand (S$8,000) Singapore Pools Trophy (1,250m) at the Cape Town racecourse was captured by the $151 rank-outsider Girl Like Us, who produced a barnstorming finish in the Class 4 race for fillies and mares slated as Race 8 (at 8.15pm Singapore time) on Pools' South Africa card.
The inaugural Singapore Pools Trophy at Durbanville was a collaboration between Pools and Race Coast - a merger between Gold Circle and Cape Racing - and that continues to mark Pools' growing presence in the South African racing scene.
"Singapore Pools is proud to partner with Race Coast for the inaugural Singapore Pools Trophy at Hollywoodbets Durbanville Racecourse," said Pools chief product officer Simon Leong.
"Race Coast, formed in May 2025 from the merger of Gold Circle and Cape Racing under the Race Coast banner, shares our passion for the sport and commitment to delivering top-class racing experiences."
On Aug 23, the Singapore Pools Trophy 2025 Pinnacle Stakes (1,600m) at Turffontein - its second edition after 2024 - saw the Tony Peter-trained and Serino Moodley-ridden Money Heist score by a nose.
