Family-friendly ● Better understanding of needs of children, parents may help address fertility crisis

As a father of a toddler and a newborn, I agree that our society needs to have a more welcoming attitude towards parents with young children (Let's create a more accepting society for parents and young children, Dec 30).

My experience in taking my children out has been mixed. There are people who have helped to hold doors and lifts open, and staff at restaurants who have been patient when my toddler makes a mess. These small gestures help to brighten one's day.

On the other hand, I have sometimes had difficulties using lifts when pushing a stroller, when they were filled with mostly able-bodied people.
