Animal welfare: Feeding inappropriate food is a form of abuse, so take strict action

I was appalled to read about the recent incident at the Singapore Zoo, where a visitor was seen feeding a critically endangered lemur a soft drink (Mandai Wildlife Group warns visitors after woman seen feeding critically endangered lemur soft drink, March 17).

This blatant disregard for animal welfare is not only irresponsible but also amounts to animal abuse.

This is not an isolated case. Just recently, an influencer in Australia took a baby wombat away from its mother. Such actions demonstrate a complete lack of respect for animals and their natural habitats. Wildlife should never be treated as personal entertainment or props for social media likes.
