Reliance subsidiary signs 10 GWh battery PLI deal with Heavy Industries Ministry

Reliance New Energy Battery Limited, which is a subsidiary of Reliance Industries Limited, has signed a deal with the Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI), under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme to manufacture Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC) batteries on February 17, according to an official release.
The deal was signed after a competitive global tender process and makes the Reliance subsidiary eligible to receive incentives under India's Rs 18,100 crore PLI ACC scheme. However, the exact amount of subsidies which the company is eligible to receive, has not been disclosed.
"This brings the total allocated capacity to 40 GWh out of the planned 50 GWh under the national program," a ministry spokesperson stated. The remaining three beneficiaries received their allocations in July 2022 following the first bidding round.
