Rumoured name change from 'India' to 'Bharat' sparks political debate

A Rashtrapati Bhawan invitation for a G20 dinner on 9 September in the name of the 'President of Bharat' instead of the usual President of India has triggered a political storm, with political leaders debating if it indicated the country's name was being "changed" from India to Bharat.
NCP president Sharad Pawar declared: "No one has right to change country's name." Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said Article 1 in the Constitution can read "Bharat, that was India, shall be a Union of States" and accused the government of assaulting the idea of "Union of States."
