Airport metro station to have state-of-art facilities

The Jai Hind Biman Bandar station which would provide connectivity from the airport to the various parts of Kolkata, including Howrah and Sealdah railway stations, is equipped with travelators – a first-of-a-kind facility in the city’s metro network.

The metro station, which is to function as a crucial connecting point for local, domestic and international passengers from the airport toward the main parts of Kolkata as well as its adjoining areas, includes several state-of-the-art passenger amenities. The station has six escalators, six lifts and six staircases along with two sub-ways. One sub-way will connect Biman Bandar station to the busy Jessore Road.

Apart from three public staircases, three emergency staircases have also been provided in this sub-way along with four entry/exit points. The subway is equipped with four escalators and two lifts.
