The annual Shiv Baraat in Deoghar, a lively celebration of faith, music, and cultural heritage, has traditionally been a point of pride for the people of Jharkhand.
However, this year, the event finds itself clouded by political controversy, with allegations surrounding its management and commercialization.
BJP MP Nishikant Dubey has stirred the pot, alleging that the Shiv Baraat has been "sold" to the Chief Minister. He claims that behind-the-scenes dealings and financial irregularities have marred the festival, and threatens to seek a judicial inquiry and a CAG audit after the event. "This is not about development," a senior member of the Panda Samaj confided. "It's about control. The Shiv Baraat has always belonged to us."
