Windstorms damage orchards, infrastructure across J&K

The ongoing hailstorm in the Kashmir valley has badly damaged the blooming stone fruit crop, while the windstorm in the Jammu region has damaged the mango orchards.
The ongoing hailstorm in the Kashmir valley has badly damaged the blooming stone fruit crop, while the windstorm in the Jammu region has damaged the mango orchards. J&K has been witnessing thunderstorms and gusty winds since Friday evening.
Substantial infrastructure damage has also been caused in the region. Trees have uprooted at several places and have damaged the electricity poles and wires that have plunged many areas without electric supply.
The Meteorological department has warned of "moderate rain with intense showers accompanied with moderate to severe thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds at many places in J&K till next six to eight hours".
The White Knight Corps of the Indian Army rescued a woman and three children from the debris of a house that collapsed due to heavy rain and a severe thunderstorm at Talwara in Reasi.
