The birth of a child is always a moment of immense joy, but for some parents, it can be overshadowed by fear and stigma.

- ROUSHAN CHATTERJEE

Children born with a cleft lip or palate are often met with whispers, avoidance, and ridicule. Families may hide their children out of fear of social exclusion. This harsh reality stems from some deep-rooted superstitions: some believe it is the parents' fault, others claim it as 'bad karma' from past lives. Some even say that cutting vegetables during a solar eclipse can bring such misfortune. These myths only add to the emotional burden on the parents and child. However, the truth is far from these beliefs.
