Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in the earthquake that struck Afghanistan, killing over 800 and injuring more than 1,000.

He was saddened by the loss of lives in the earthquake in Afghanistan. Our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved during this difficult hour, and we pray for a speedy recovery to the injured. India stands ready to provide all possible humanitarian relief to those affected," he said.
