State to Launch Antyodaya Gruha Yojana Housing Scheme

The state cabinet approved the implementation of the Antyodaya Gruha Yojana, an ambitious housing scheme aimed at providing affordable homes to economically weaker sections. The scheme, with a budget of Rs 7,550 crore, will facilitate the construction of 2.25 lakh houses over the next three years.

Announcing the decision after a late-night cabinet meeting on Friday, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi stated that under the scheme, eligible beneficiaries will receive Rs 1.20 lakh for house construction. Additionally, those completing their houses within four months will receive a bonus of Rs 20,000, while those finishing within six months will get Rs 10,000.

Only pucca houses, defined as those with RCC roofs and cement walls, will qualify under the scheme. The definition of a family includes husband, wife, dependent parents, and children, and newly formed families will also be eligible.

In another significant decision, the cabinet approved key projects under Phase III of the Dam Rehabilitation and Improvement Project (DRIP-III), with an estimated cost of Rs 1,066 crore over six years. This externally aided initiative will be funded by the World Bank and AIIB.
