Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday reaffirmed his government's commitment to transforming Odisha into a manufacturing hub by focusing on in-state value addition of mineral resources.
Speaking at the 70th Foundation Day celebration of Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC), the Chief Minister praised the state-run PSU for emerging as a national model, ranking fifth among mineral-producing companies across the country. OMC recorded a turnover exceeding ₹23,600 crore in the financial year 2024-25.
Emphasizing the importance of value-added production, Majhi proposed the establishment of a pellet plant by OMC. He criticized previous governments for failing to tap into the state's industrial potential and stated that the current administration has adopted a proactive policy of adding value to Odisha's mineral output before sale.
