In an era increasingly dominated by monster totals and record-breaking chases, Kolkata Knight Riders' debutant Moeen Ali's performance against Rajasthan Royals in Guwahati on Wednesday came as a breath of fresh air and perhaps, a timely wake-up call for other bowlers.

- STATESMAN NEWS SERVICE GUWAHATI, 27 MARCH

On a surface that finally offered something for the bowlers, the experienced Englishman stepped up with a crafty spell of 2 for 23 to lay the foundation for KKR's resounding eight-wicket win in their second match of IPL 2025.

After the game, Moeen echoed a sentiment many bowlers have quietly harbored in recent times of the need to adapt or perish in a format that's becoming more unforgiving by the day.

"The game is developing fast and people are just fearless at the moment. The bowlers do have to come up with something, it is more important than ever before," Moeen said, acknowledging the challenge of staying relevant amid the six-hitting frenzy that defines T20s today.
