Discontentment is brewing among the forest dwellers across the Mayurbhanj and Balasore district as they are forced to sell Mahua flower at throwaway prices to middlemen from Odisha, West Bengal, Bihar, and Jharkhand due to a lack of procurement and market facilities.

While the middlemen buy it at a rate of Rs 20 to Rs 30 per kg depending on the quality of the Mahua flower, they are selling a kg of the flower for more than Rs 50 to Rs 60 and earning a net profit of more than Rs 30.
