Coming from a modest background, Justice Surya Kant's rise to the top of the judiciary is a story of perseverance and determination. Despite facing numerous hardships, he remained steadfast in his ambition to serve society through law. He completed his LL.B. from Maharishi Dayanand University, Rohtak, where he stood out for his academic excellence and his strong concern for social issues.

Over the last three decades, his judicial career has taken him through several important positions, including serving in the Punjab and Haryana High Court and eventually the Supreme Court of India. Throughout his journey, he has worked with a commitment to ensuring that justice is not merely delivered but is visibly fair and transparent. His time at the Punjab and Haryana High Court is particularly noteworthy: he dealt with more than a thousand cases, many of them high-profile ones, with remarkable integrity and efficiency.
