Digha Temple row: Sacred wood from Puri temple was not used

The row over the signage 'Jagannath Dham' at the newly inaugurated temple in Digha and allegations regarding the use of surplus neem wood from the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri appeared to ebb on Monday with Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan clarifying that no sacred neem wood from the Nabakalebar ceremony of Puri Jagannath Temple was used for the idols installed in Digha temple.

The controversial signage is also reported to have been removed.

But the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee continued to come under sharp attack by BJP leaders here.

Odisha Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan, referring to an internal inquiry conducted by temple authorities, said the claims of sacred timber from the Puri temple being used is "incorrect and misleading."
