CS stresses on strengthening preventive vigilance

Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja has called for strengthening vigilance administration with special emphasis on "preventive vigilance" saying punitive action alone is not enough and that departments must work to eliminate the root causes of corruption.

In a strongly worded letter to Additional Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, the DG Vigilance Directorate, Commissioners-cum-Secretaries, RDCs and Collectors, Ahuja said the recent cases unearthed by the Vigilance Department highlight the urgency of proactive measures and that departments themselves must take the lead in identifying vulnerable areas and addressing risks before they materialize.

Directing all heads of departments and Collectors to act immediately, the Chief Secretary instructed them to constitute internal vigilance committees to identify sensitive areas and prepare both short-and long-term action plans.
