Uber and Bolt react to planned e-hailing driver strike

E-HAILING platforms Uber and Bolt South Africa have responded to growing tensions within the sector, following reports of a planned nationwide strike by drivers affiliated with the National E-Hailing Federation of South Africa (NEFSA).
Both companies acknowledged awareness of the proposed industrial action and stressed their continued commitment to engaging with drivers over longstanding concerns regarding earnings, safety, and working conditions.
An Uber spokesperson said the company had taken note of concerns raised.
“We are aware of the article that was published and acknowledge the concerns that have been raised,” Uber said. “Drivers remain at the heart of everything we do.”
The spokesperson added that the company continues to work with drivers to improve their experience on the platform.
