Police trainees die during physical assessment process

THE Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) has confirmed the deaths of two trainee candidates who were participating in the department's recent recruitment and selection process.

The deaths occurred after the JMPD began its physical assessments on August 25. JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla said Marvellous Michael Nyambi, 24, from Rabie Ridge, became ill from heat exhaustion while taking part in the selection programme on Thursday, August 28, at the Ruimsig Stadium.
