Yates expecting more Vale activity for new campaign

ADAM Yates fully expects Port Vale to make another couple of signings before trimming the squad once the season starts.

The ex-Valiants defender - who played at Vale Park for a decade from 2009 - believes Darren Moore will have a competitive squad heading into the new League One campaign.

"I still think there will be a couple more that will come in and then I think they will start to get some out on loan or on permanent deals to try and trim the squad down a little bit," said Yates.

"What they are doing is strengthening and then they will cut back on a few.

"The key is they have a competitive squad and they have a squad that has got two or three options in each position to keep people on their toes and on the top of their game.

"I don't expect too many players to play every game but they are going to build a squad they feel can compete and get some stability in the league above.

"I think that a mid-table finish would be a really strong position.
