Eight sites to welcome 3,000 new trees as borough eyeing an eco-friendlier future
THOUSANDS of trees are to be planted next month at eight new North Staffordshire sites.
Newcastle Borough Council is behind the plan to establish beech, blackthorn, hazel, silver birch and wild cherry trees. It is set to plant 3,000 trees as it aims to enhance the natural environment and improve biodiversity.
The new trees will also contribute to the council's 2030 net zero goal - trees absorb large amounts of carbon dioxide from the air where it contributes to climate change.
