Hat-trick of awards as pub honoured yet again by real ale aficionados

A PUB is celebrating being named the best in the business for the third year running.

The Lodge Inn, Alsager, has been voted the Campaign for Real Ale's (Camra) South Cheshire pub of the year for the third consecutive year. Owner Carl Smith, aged 58, who used to run The Gresley Arms, Alsagers Bank and The Swan at Bignall End, was delighted with the recognition.

He said: “We came here in 2021 after lockdown. It was a real mess. It took us three months to refurbish. We are not tied to a brewery. It is our own. It is a proper good real ale pub. We are in the Good Beer Guide. We do eight cask ales. We have Bass and Oakham Citra on permanently and the other six are changing all the time.
