Site of iconic ex-club could become flats
PLANS have been unveiled to build a new apartment complex on the site of an iconic nightclub in Stoke-on-Trent.
The Place on Bryan Street in Hanley was a pioneering nightspot for revellers when it was launched in 1963 and would attract major acts including David Bowie, Rod Stewart, Eric Clapton and Elton John when he was still known as Reg Dwight.
People from across the wider region flocked to Hanley to experience what the Place had to offer.
But after its popularity began to wane, the club closed and the venue was demolished back in 2015.
