'Pressure will be on teams to shine'

WEST Bromwich Albion and Portsmouth will be under pressure to put in a final day performance in front of their own fans even if it’s their opponents who have everything resting on the results.

- Peter Smith

That's the view of Championship pundit George Elek, who has been previewing a season finale that is all set up for a day of drama, nerves and consequence.

West Brom, who will realistically finish either 10th or 11th, host a Luton Town side who have won their last three games to climb out of the relegation zone and might need a fourth on the spin to be sure of survival.

Portsmouth, who could realistically finish between 14th and 17th, host a Hull City side who have slipped into the bottom three and need at least a point and possibly a win to be sure of avoiding the drop to League One.

Bristol City, meanwhile, are fifth and might need a win to book a play-off spot when they take on a Preston North End team that has lost four on the bounce to now sit only one point above the bottom three.

Derby County and Stoke City, the other two teams in the relegation shake-up, meet at Pride Park. A win for either will guarantee survival, a draw would definitely be enough for Stoke and possible for Derby and a defeat would leave either sweating on other results.

Not The Top 20, who have been giving expert analysis on the division all season, has been trying to add clarity to the chaos.
