Ofsted praise for 'outstanding' school

OFSTED inspectors have given top marks to a 'warm and inclusive' city primary school - that promises youngsters 'the best party in town.'

- Kerry Ashdown

Longton’s Belgrave St Bartholomew's Academy was rated 'outstanding' - the highest grading - in four out of five areas.

And the Sussex Place school was praised for its innovative use of technology while pupils' behaviour was described as 'exceptional' in the inspectors' report, published last month.

Quality of education was given a good rating. Behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management and early years provision were all rated as outstanding.

It follows an inspection carried out in March this year. A full inspection was carried out back in 2017 which saw the popular school go from 'good' to 'outstanding.'

Since September last year and Ofsted no longer make overall effective judgements of state-funded schools. So the latest inspection at the academy has listed five areas with each rated.
