Pair left injured after they were overpowered during arrest

- Sentinel Reporter

A MONKEY dust-dealing thug injured two police officers as he tried to resist arrest.

Kia Cox strangled both officers after they were called to a disturbance in Foden Street, Stoke. Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court heard he was eventually arrested after backup was called.

Those offences were committed months before police stopped a van containing Cox and Daniel Derricot in Summerville Road, Trent Vale, on March 31 this year. Multiple bags of monkey dust and multiple phones were found, the court was told. Officers searched both men’s addresses and discovered a further 181 wraps of monkey dust worth between £6,000 and £8,000, cannabis, weighing scales and £105 cash.

Prosecutor Gurdit Singh said: "There were reports of a disturbance in a property in Foden Street. Two police officers attended the property and Cox battered the officers. He struck an officer in the cheek and eye and grabbed him around the throat, the police officer was terrified and struggled to breathe or shout.
