MP calling for decisive action to secure a future for ceramics sector in the Potteries

A CITY MP is demanding decisive Government action to support the ceramic sector after Wedgwood revealed it is making job losses.
The Sentinel reported yesterday that consultations are taking place between management, unions and the workforce over redundancies.
It comes just over a month after the factory refired kilns following a 90-day halting of production at the Barlaston factory.
Unions have described the job cuts as a ‘body blow’.
Now Allison Gardner, MP for Stoke-on-Trent South, says the announcement is ‘deeply troubling’.
She said: “Wedgwood is a cherished and well-loved household name, rooted in Stoke-on-Trent and representing the very best of British ceramics. These are highly skilled jobs and they matter to our city.
